Two if by sea...

Oh, what a noble mind is here o'erthrown!—
The courtier’s, soldier’s, scholar’s, eye, tongue, sword,
Th' expectancy and rose of the fair state,
The glass of fashion and the mould of form,
Th' observed of all observers, quite, quite down!
And I, of ladies most deject and wretched,
That sucked the honey of his music vows,
Now see that noble and most sovereign reason
Like sweet bells jangled, out of tune and harsh;
That unmatched form and feature of blown youth
Blasted with ecstasy. Oh, woe is me,
T' have seen what I have seen, see what I see!

What to Wear in Westeros: Westerlands Part 1

We got busy.. sorry :(
But now that things have slowed I'm putting out at least one half of our Westerlands post. Dreamy will hop on with hers once she finishes her look!

I'm going to skip the quotes here, because all we have to go on is Cersei, and her look drastically changes from one book to the next, depending on what she is doing. Overall, the theme is opulent, but modest. Not nearly as modest as the Baratheons in my head, but certainly not the type to flash a lot of bewb either.

We see a lot of Lannister in the show, so there is a lot to go on. The main thing to keep in mind? Opulent.

Rich brocades, lots of cloth-of-gold, bead work, embroidery, you name it. They also tend to have a lot of metalwork in their accessories, which I love!

See you next round!

What Leyla is wearing:
Hair: .b - ging - light blone
Necklace and belt - Plastik - Naamah Body Jewelry - Golden
Dress - GizzA - BOSL gown - Red
Undershirt - Sn@tch Budoir Lace Bodysuit - Beige

What to Wear in Westeros: The Stormlands

Here we are with another edition of "What to wear" - this time we focus upon the Stormlands.

This was particularly hard for both of us, because there are so few descriptions of what women wore. Our only Baratheon woman is Stannis' wife, who isn't seen very often.

So!

What we thought of for this region, is a similar region that might be seen in our world. It's certainly not cold there, but they do have a LOT of storms, so layers and fabrics that would not be gross when damp.
That means wool (which will felt or stretch badly) is mostly out, as well as silk, unless it is of the heavier brocade type.

Given that the family itself seems to be more "prudish" by it's description in the books, we're going by that. The men seemed to stick with almost always leather jerkins, which makes sense given the weather.

Velvet and Brocade became our fabrics of choice, with simple (they aren't that rich in the stormlands) but elegant accessories.

Overall, we agreed that both of us seemed to want to go almost Tudor/Elizabethan style with it, but pulled back and went more classic medieval/renaissance.

Next week... The Westerlands!

Once upon a time....

Shhh...

Once upon a time, two imaginary playmates joined together to create one of the longest running fantasy clothing shops in SL.  They worked long and hard for many years, creating hundreds of outfits for many genres and themes.  Then, one day, they realized it no longer made them happy.  So together they rode off into the sunset, and lived happily ever after...

But that's not the end of the story...

While Fantasia may have found it's place back on the shelf, there are always new places to find inspiration.  And those two imaginary playmates are back.  A fresh start, a familiar duo.

...and a whole library of inspiration.

The Library is now open.

Circe from The Odessy

Desdemona from Othello

Lucrezia from The Prince

Tremaine from Cinderella

Prynne from The Scarlet Letter

Tess from Tess of the d'Ubervilles

Grendel from Beowulf

That's right, the creators behind Fantasia have come back to making quality medieval clothing for all your RP and fantasy needs. Come check us out!

What to Wear: The Reach

Ready for our next installment of What to Wear in Westeros?
This week we've chosen the Reach as our focus. Believe it or not, there aren't many descriptions of what the Tyrells are wearing - At least not Margaery.

".... and the Tyrell girl was splendid in green with a cloak of autumn flowers blowing from her shoulders."

"The bride was lovely in ivory silk and Myrish lace, her skirts decorated with floral patterns picked out in seed pearls. As Renly's widow, she might have worn the Baratheon colors, gold and black, yet she came to them a Tyrell, in a maiden's cloak made of a hundred cloth-of-gold roses sewn to green velvet."

"Margaery had exchanged the demure gown that she had worn in the sept for one much more revealing, a confection in pale green samite with a tight-laced bodice that bared her shoulders and the tops of her small breasts."

Overall, I got the impression that Reachlanders were all about the flowers. They're big symbol people. Every. Single. Description. of their clothing had something to do with flowers, even Loras' things did. Oleanna the Queen of Thorns was similar.

All that aside, we see a lot of light and airy things, but with tight bodies. (Bodices). In my head that lends itself to a more romantic yet rustic feel.
