This was particularly hard for both of us, because there are so few descriptions of what women wore. Our only Baratheon woman is Stannis' wife, who isn't seen very often.
So!
What we thought of for this region, is a similar region that might be seen in our world. It's certainly not cold there, but they do have a LOT of storms, so layers and fabrics that would not be gross when damp.
That means wool (which will felt or stretch badly) is mostly out, as well as silk, unless it is of the heavier brocade type.
Given that the family itself seems to be more "prudish" by it's description in the books, we're going by that. The men seemed to stick with almost always leather jerkins, which makes sense given the weather.
Velvet and Brocade became our fabrics of choice, with simple (they aren't that rich in the stormlands) but elegant accessories.
Overall, we agreed that both of us seemed to want to go almost Tudor/Elizabethan style with it, but pulled back and went more classic medieval/renaissance.
Next week... The Westerlands!
